HISTORY
Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Public Administration Department was established in 1993, after a two-year preparation period, it began its active academic education by accepting students in 1995-1996 education-training year. Later, the Evening Education program was opened in 2001-2002 education-training year and at the same term students were accepted to that program. Currently, the department continues its educational activities both in daytime and evening Education Programs.
QUALIFICATION AWARDED
Students are entitled to have an undergraduate certificate/diploma who are succesfully complete program courses (total 240 ECTS) and achieve at least 2.00 GPA from 4.00 grade system.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.
ADMISSION AND ENROLMENT
In our country, it is required to pass LYS to get into university. This exam is only condition to get into bachelor programs for Turkish Republic citizens. Certain number of foreign students who pass a central exam called YÖS (Foreing Student Exam) also get acceptance. Required documents for registration:
1- Highschool or its equivalents diploma
2- Student election and placement exam result.

QUALIFICAITON REQUIREMENTS AND REGULATIONS
To obtain a Bachelor’s Degree on Public Administration, students must pass succesfully all the compulsory and elective courses in the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the program.
 
PROFILE OF THE PROGRAMME
The Department of Public Administration aims to provide knowledge required by contemporary politics and administration science to undergraduate and graduate students who will need the provided education after graduating to work in their own areas. On the other hand, the department aims to bring the modern education and study culture, contribution to the production of knowledge, participatory, collaborativeness to students. In this context, it is primarily aimed to make our students respectful individuals to national and universal values and preferred persons with their education, training and research quality at regional and country level, with the principle of teamwork, oriented to solve country's and region's problems. The students who graduate from our department is encouraged to have knowledge, skill and motivation to be successful in private sector as well as in public sector and in this context to improve their knowledge thorough lifelong learning practices.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
1. Obtain basic knowledge in the theoretical and practical areas of political science, administrative science, law, urbanization and environment problems.
2. Obtain learning skill which improves their knowledge of political science and administration, urbanization, environment problems and law in lifetime.
3. Use basic knowledge obtained from political science and administration in order to solve problems of related institutions and organizations. 
4. Interpret the concepts and approaches of political science and administration within the context of national and international levels, analyze and applies comparative and interdisciplinary.
5. Know and applies the principles of participation in the field of public administration, governance, teamwork, transparency, ethics management, efficiency and performance audit.
6. Know the relationship between the state and the civil society at national and local levels in the political science field and critically intervenes the problems related to this area.
7. Take individual responsibility as a team member, becomes open-minded, open to criticism, positive and self-esteem.
8. Have the institutional and practical knowledge of public law and private law at national and international levels.
9. Have sufficient consciousness about the rule of law and its universality, justice, equality, human rights and citizenship, health and environmental values.
10. Implement the concepts and approaches learned about urbanization and environment to solve local, national and international problems.
11. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in the field of public administration.
12. Have information in political science, public administration, law, urbanization and environment problems by using a foreign language and communicates with colleagues.
13. Use information technology at the level of public administration department requires and contributes to e-government applications.
OCCUPATIONAL PROFILES OF GRADUATES
Employment opportunities for graduates in general are as follows: Audit Supervisor, Administrative Law Judge, the Ministries, Finance, Treasury, the Directorates-General and Executive Committees KPSS group A cadres, the prefect, the internal auditor, inspector, accountant, controller, auditor, specialist cadres and local governments; work as inspectors and internal auditors. In addition, in the case of getting adequate scores in KPSS B, they can be employed as clerk in all public institutions. Graduates may also serve az academic and administrative staff at universities. Graduates also may serve on the private sector.
ACCESS TO FURTHER STUDIES
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes provided that a valid point of ALES examination and a sufficient level of foreign language knowledge.
COURSE PROGRAM
For the program carried out, 30 ECTS courses must be taken in a semester.
EXAM REGULATIONS AND ASSESMENT AND GRADING
Exams; consists of midterm, final exam, make-up exam, make-up exam, exemption exam and a single course exam. Midterm Exams: A midterm exam is held for the courses offered in each semester. Midterm evaluation is 40% of the score received. Final Exams: It is held at the end of the semester to determine the success of the student from the courses completed. Final exam evaluation is 60% of the score received. Make-up Exams: Students who cannot take the midterm or final exam due to a justified and valid excuse are given the right to make-up exams by the relevant board of directors. In order for the student to be accepted to the make-up exam, he/she must apply to the dean's office/directorship within 3 days from the day the excuse is made, with a petition basing his/her excuse on documents, and his/her excuse must be accepted by the relevant administrative board. Make-up exams: At the end of the semester, students can take make-up exams for the courses they failed with a FD or FF grade, and for the courses they were successful with a DD or DC grade. The grade taken in the make-up exam replaces the final exam grade of that course. The weights of the midterm and make-up exam grades are calculated as in the final exams. In the courses in which the make-up exam is taken, the final grade is taken as the basis, regardless of the previous grade. Exemption Exams: It is held on the dates specified in the academic calendar for the courses determined by the Senate. Single Course Exam: Students who have met the attendance requirement for graduation but have only one failed course left can take a single course exam for the course they failed. In addition, students who cannot graduate due to their GPA below 2.00 despite being successful in all the courses in the education program they are registered for, apply to the department chair with a petition in order to increase their GPA in order to increase their GPA. They can take a single course exam. A single course exam right can be used once.
One of the following letter grades is given to the students for each course they take by the instructor assigned to conduct that course as a semester success grade.

Evaluations other than the above-mentioned evaluations; TT-Failed course, MM-Exempted course, GG-Passed, KK-Fail, VV – Dropped Course. “TT” is given to students who could not meet the attendance requirement in courses and/or practice studies. Students who are successful in the Foreign Language Preparatory Program Proficiency Exam are exempted from common compulsory foreign language (English, German, French) courses and are evaluated with “MM”. “DD” is given to students who are successful in the internship studies in the Foreign Language Preparatory Program and the education program. “KK” is given to students who fail in their internships in the Foreign Language Preparatory Program and the education and training program. "VV", for the courses that have been removed from the education-training program or are not replaced by another course and which do not have to be accomplished, the recommendation of the department chair is given by the decision of the relevant administrative board. The final grade for each course is evaluated over 100 points by the instructor, taking into account the midterm and final exam results, the work done during the semester, and the course attendance. A student who gets a DD or higher grade in a course is considered successful. The procedures and principles to be applied in registration, education and training and examinations carried out at undergraduate and associate degree levels are determined in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulations.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE
The student is required to attend at least 70% of the courses. Otherwise, the said course or courses will be deemed to have failed with "TT" and will repeat the course in the relevant semester of the following year with the condition of attendance.

DEPARTMENT FACILITIES
Educational activities in the Department of Public Administration; It is carried out with 6 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 3 Doctoral Faculty Members, 7 Research Assistants. There are 14 classrooms with a total capacity of 1860 people in the faculty. Two of these classrooms have a capacity of approximately 325 people and are suitable for organizing conferences, symposiums and workshops. In addition, there is a computer application laboratory with a capacity of 49 computers. In addition, 11 classrooms have projectors and 6 classrooms have air conditioners. These classrooms are used jointly by all departments within the faculty.
EDUCATION LANGUAGE
The language of instruction in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration is Turkish.
INTERNSHIP
There is no compulsory internship in the department.
DOUBLE MAJOR - MINOR PROGRAMS
Double Major Program Double Major Program; It allows a student to have a second diploma by taking a certain amount of credit from another department while continuing his undergraduate education. The Department of Public Administration accepts students to the double major program from Sociology, Philosophy, History, Business, Economics, Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, Political Science and International Relations and International Trade and Finance. Students can apply to the Double Major Program in the 3rd semester at the earliest and in the 5th semester at the latest. Required conditions to participate in the Double Major Program: A GPA of at least 70 out of 100 The student enters 20% of the class he/she is in In order to apply for the Double Major Diploma Program, the student must successfully complete all the courses taken in the major diploma program until the semester he/she applies. In order for the student to graduate from the double major program, the GPA must be at least 70 out of 100. During the entire double major education, the student's GPA may decrease to 65 out of 100 for once. A student whose GPA falls below 65 out of 100 for the second time will be deregistered from the second major diploma program. A graduation diploma can only be given to a student who continues the second major undergraduate program if he/she graduates from the first major diploma program he/she has attended. Minor Program The Minor Program ensures that successful students who continue their major education can take courses in order to gain knowledge from another undergraduate education that they are interested in. The Department of Public Administration accepts students from the Departments of Sociology, Philosophy, History, Business, Economics, Labor Economics and Industrial Relations, Political Science and International Relations, and International Trade and Finance. Only a certificate of achievement (minor certificate) is issued to those who complete their minor program in the field in which they are trained. These documents do not replace diplomas. Required conditions to participate in the Minor Program: Students can apply for a minor program at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest and the sixth semester at the latest. The student's overall grade point average must be at least 65 out of 100.
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
Erasmus programme Erasmus Program, which is included in the Socrates (General Education) Program of the EU Education and Youth Programs, which aims to mutually recognize between countries, to better use and develop their existing educational potentials, is a program that organizes cooperation at the higher education level. Application Conditions for the Erasmus Program A cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher is sufficient for application to the program. The student is evaluated as a result of the English Language Exam and interview, and can go to one of the partner universities of our department for one or two semesters.
